Christchurch Transitional Cathedral & 185 White Chairs

Christchurch’s Cathedral, the most recognizable landmark still provides the devastating reminder of the 2011 earthquake that changed the city forever. The cardboard Cathedral is the transitional pro-cathedral of the Anglican Diocese of Christchurch opened in August 2013. Poignant arrangement of 185 Empty White Chairs is an unofficial memorial remembering the 185 people who lost their lives in the 2011 earthquake, has caught public imagination & international attention.

Christchurch Gondola
